Derive Growth Lab · In force from 12 September 2026 · Version 1.0
How to have us delete what we hold about you — whether you connected your own account, or simply commented on one of ours.
The short version. Email matt@derivenotes.com with the subject Data deletion request and tell us the Instagram, TikTok or YouTube username you used. We delete everything we hold about you within 30 days and reply to confirm. There is no charge, no account needed and no form to fill in.
Two different people end up on this page, and the answer is slightly different for each.
You are not a Growth Lab user and you never signed up for anything. If you commented a keyword on one of our Reels, our system read that comment in order to reply to it, and it kept a record of doing so. That record is:
Nothing else. We hold no email address, no phone number, no payment details and no profile of you, and we have never sold, rented or shared any of it.
To have it erased: email matt@derivenotes.com from any address and tell us the Instagram username you commented from. You do not need to prove who you are for us to delete — deletion cannot expose anybody's information, so we do not make you jump through a hoop to get it. (If you instead want a copy of what we hold, we do have to check it is you first, because handing it over could expose you to someone else. We will explain how when you ask.)
If you no longer have access to that Instagram account, tell us the approximate date and the post you commented on and we will find the record from that.
You can also stop it at the source. Deleting your comment on Instagram, or blocking the account, stops any further contact immediately and does not depend on us.
You are an operator: you gave Growth Lab access to an Instagram, TikTok or YouTube account so it could publish on your instruction.
Posts already published stay on the platform. They belong to your account, not to us, and are deleted from there.
It means the rows are removed from our database, not flagged as hidden. The tool that does it
(dm-forget) removes, in one transaction: the comment and message records, the record of
every reply sent to that person, their contact row, and the link-tap records attached to those
replies. It reports what it removed, and there is an automated test asserting that nobody else's
records are touched by it.
Two honest limits:
We aim to action a request within a few days and are bound to do it within 30, which is also the maximum the Australian Privacy Principles allow. You will get a reply confirming it is done. If you do not hear back within 30 days, write again — and if you are still unhappy, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the EU or UK.
